Why should you join one of our weekly classes, seminars, or monthly workshops?
The top reason people join us is to learn how to protect themselves and their loved ones against a variety of threats, be they blunt, bladed, or bareknuckled. While our primary system is based on traditional fighting methods (Pekiti-Tirsia Kali), our training is very much rooted in practical modern-day applications with reality-based drills and tactics. We look at the most common types of attacks and how our defenses might change based on size and strength (or lack thereof).
The safety of our students is our number one concern, and that starts first in our classes. Respect to each other and our training weapons are shown at all times, and safety equipment (like eye protection) is used when appropriate. After all how can you protect yourself on the streets if you don’t feel protected enough in class?
If you’re not careful while training, you’ll find yourself … getting fit! One of the many side benefits of training in martial arts (and particularly Pekiti-Tirsia Kali, which uses a lot of footwork and mobility) is that you’ll burn calories, tone muscles, and build up endurance without even realizing it.
We take our training seriously, but not ourselves. After all, how likely are you to practice if it’s not fun?
